Nick has 17 years of active duty military leadership experience where he flew and instructed in the MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter and the C-40A Clipper transport jet. His passion for helping transitioning veterans maximize their professional potential led him to found Tech Qualled where he leads daily operations. As a military veteran himself, he is an excellent conduit for men and women transitioning from the armed service into new careers in high tech that reward them for their military skill sets. Nick is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and received a Master in Public Administration degree from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Nick lives in Fort Worth, Texas, where he enjoys his family, his faith, and soccer.

Justin has 14 years of active duty experience in both enlisted and officer communities. After driving ships for several years as a Surface Warfare Officer, he resigned his commission in 2012 and transitioned to the tech sector working for IBM and Oracle in various sales roles. His recent experience navigating the high tech space and penchant for helping veterans spurred him to start Tech Qualled where he focuses on strategy, brand, and long-term vision. Justin is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, received a Master in Business Administration degree from Georgetown University and a Master in Public Administration degree from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Justin lives in Annapolis, Maryland with his family. He is also a passionate FC Barcelona fan and hopes to watch Lionel Messi hoist many more trophies for club and country.
Director of Candidate Experience
Katie has 10 years of Army Aviation experience. As a former dual military family, Katie understands the challenges veterans are facing when transitioning and she believes that all veterans deserve a fair chance at pursing their passions which is why she joined the Tech Qualled team. Katie is responsible for ensuring candidates have the best possible experience in the Tech Qualled program and most importantly that they find a high-tech sales role that fits both the candidate’s needs and that of their family. Katie is a graduate of Providence College in Rhode Island and most recently earned her MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
Katie lives in Goleta, CA with her husband, an active duty Army Aviation Officer and her three children. Katie enjoys running, spending time on the beach and playing golf. As a native New Englander Katie is a passionate Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Partner Success Manager
Carly brings over 12 years of experience in high tech customer facing roles from sales and project management to customer success. She most recently spent 6 years at Cisco Systems working with enterprise businesses in the cloud collaboration space with a focus on exceeding customer expectations. A Cleveland, Ohio native Carly graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Arts and Communications. After college she spent several years enjoying a career which allowed her to live in different areas of the country including Chicago, Sacramento, Denver, Raleigh, and Portland.
Carly now resides in Raleigh, NC with her husband and 2 children. Carly is passionate about health and fitness and loves cooking and trying new recipes!
Director of Business Development
Kristina began her career as an account executive in the media industry, helping her customers create results-driven marketing and media solutions. Shortly after she was transferred to Charlotte, NC, she moved into the non-profit world and led a team focused on marketing and fundraising for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. Five years later she transitioned into a recruiting and human capital management in the tech industry where she quickly developed strong relationships in the IT community and helped multiple VAR’s grow their sales teams. Her positive experience working with Tech Qualled as a customer is what drove her to pursue a career working with Tech Qualled and to be a part of the strong vision, brand and presence Tech Qualled is known for. As a member of the team she will focus primarily on business development and expanding partnership opportunities within the tech industry.
Kristina is a graduate of Clemson University where she received a Bachelors of Arts in Communications and a minor in Journalism. Kristina lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband and two children and when not working, enjoys running, spending time with her family and watching her Clemson Tigers play football!
Chris Hurst has over 35 years of sales and sales leadership experience in the technology market. He has worked for companies including Sun Microsystems, Juniper Networks and Cisco Systems. Over his career he developed a track record of building high performing sales teams that consistently exceeded goals. He is very excited to leverage that experience to help our candidates get of to a quick start and build build successful careers in sales.
Chris lives with his family in Austin, TX where he spends a lot of time on the lake and in the Hill Country riding his Harley.
DIRECTOR OF LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
Tina has over 25 years of combined education, design, business operations, sales and marketing experience. She has developed and delivered educational courses for K-12, higher education and adult learners. In addition, she has been an Adjunct Faculty member at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) and a guest lecturer/speaker at The Art Institute and UCSD Extension. She has taught marketing, communications, business and creative design courses, as well as assisted students with portfolio development and reviews. She is a graduate of UC Irvine and is working toward a MS in Instructional Science and Technology (MIST) from CSU Monterey Bay. Additionally, Tina has completed PhD coursework in Media Psychology at Fielding Graduate University.
Tina lives in Portland, Oregon where most weekends you can find her on the water racing in a canoe or dragon boat, and spending time with her amazing family and mini dachshund named Toby.
A native of Colorado, Natalie began her career in Major League Baseball as a Coordinator for the Houston Astros Baseball Club. She helped manage community relations efforts, which included outreach programs, military and children initiatives. She also helped manage programs and fundraising for the Astros Foundation, the official team charity of the Astros. After moving to Missouri from Texas, Natalie transitioned into healthcare information technology as a project manager. As the Learning Coordinator at Tech Qualled, Natalie will be responsible for coordinating the learning-related programs and assist with the administration of the learning management system. She is excited to help enrich the lives of military veterans.
Natalie is a graduate of the University of Missouri and lives in Kansas City, MO with her husband, Ryan and her son, Lewis. A former competitive swimmer, she enjoys going to the lake, swimming, being outdoors and rooting for the Tigers.
Business Development Manager
As a native of Kentucky, Amanda began her professional career in the Pharmaceutical Industry, working on chemical formulation development and pharmaceutical technologies. Within a few years, she transitioned into the Agribusiness sector as a Marketing and Sales Specialist. She worked specifically with integrating marketing communications, working with a global marketing team and led multiple projects working with a variety of sponsors. Recently, she shifted divisions and stepped into the beverage industry working as a Key Accounts Manager working on the national level with head corporate buyers.
Amanda is a graduate of Georgetown College and lives in Georgetown, Kentucky with her husband, son, and black lab, Nelli. When she isn’t working, she spends her time at the sportsman’s club shooting sporting clays, hunting, cheering on her favorite sports teams (UK, Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Reds), and being with her son, Tripp.

Jim has over 35 years of experience in the high tech industry including executive and sales leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard and Cisco Systems. Jim is our CEO and he has direct responsibility for our training curriculum and he takes the lead in our engagements with our clients. Jim founded this company because of his passion for helping veterans transition into rewarding careers in high technology. He has deep relationships with most of our clients dating back over ten years.
Jim lives in Austin, Texas where he enjoys tennis and water skiing and time with his family.
Karen brings a background in high tech sales at Hewlett Packard as well as teaching at the college level at Hong Kong Polytechnic. Karen also sits on several nonprofit boards in the Austin area. Karen and Jim have two children in their 20’s both working in the high tech area.
Karen currently lives in Austin, Texas where she enjoys water skiing, biking, and yoga.
Veteran Recruiting Manager
Brian served 4 years as a Surface Warfare Officer and his spouse is currently an active duty SWO. Brian transitioned from the Navy in 2015 to pursue high-tech sales at Technology Integration Group (TIG) and Randstad Technologies. His unique perspective of personally transitioning from the military to high-tech sales is why he joined Tech Qualled: to help other veterans do the same. He understands the challenges associated with this transition and enjoys working with veterans so they can successfully break into the high-tech space. Brian is a graduate of Tulane University where he received his Bachelors of Science in Finance; was the ROTC Battalion Commander; and is proudly a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Brian lives in Southern California with his wife and daughter. He enjoys playing pretty much any sport, especially golf and snowboarding, and if not on the links, you can find him with his family at the beach with his Newfoundland, Joey.
